Learn how to make your own inclusive cartoons!
In March, 4change Romania started partnering with nonprofit organisations Jedna Mladost Croatia and RITE Cyprus to increase the take up in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) related subjects by creating engaging cartoons as part of an Erasmus+ KA2 Project.
CartoonEd, the project funded by the European Union, will last 16 months where each partner organisation will carry out local research to establish young people’s understanding of what STEM is, which subjects are less exciting, which young people are most likely to be socially excluded and which cartoons they enjoy watching.
Equipped with this knowledge, the partners will then run a series of both cartoon and stop animation workshops to train young people aged 13 to 19 how to create fun and exciting cartoons. They will create three cartoons that will use a dialect to connect with the local population, targeting children aged 7 to 13.
The organisations want to use the cartoons to promote inclusion in STEM by including characters from socially excluded groups, whilst also focussing on a specific area of STEM that often sees lower grades or further study.
We are looking to work with any local interested stakeholders. So if you are a school or organisation offering STEM education, or if you are a young person under 18 interested in becoming part of the project, you can get in touch by messaging us on Instagram or emailing us at cartooned@jednamladost.hr
